The bulk of the war lurches on. The Anglo-French push in the Dardanelles continues, German and Austrian forces make a little headway in repelling the Russians in Galacia, all the other fronts are pretty much as they have been for weeks. The American and Germans are tediously talking about the angry letters already exchanged and threatening more stern diplomacy.All the interesting things are more local, the tangential and trivial oddness that has been forgotten, including things that echo some current things because forgotten history really does get repeated.

• Strange little article on the number of Jews in the German army...
• A more detailed report on Sir Robert Borden's speeches in Montréal...
• A notice on the back page that "All Subjects of Germany, Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire" must register by December 31 or be liable to arrest as a prisoner of war.

German attempts to advance along the coast of Belgium toward the English Channel continue to not go well. Serbians have taken forts in Sarajevo (and even though that's were the war started, it does seem like a side-show now.)
• An estimated two million Belgians are refugees outside Belgium
• Body washed ashore near Carmanah
• Bomb explodes in Montréal.
• Proposal to build "airships of all types" in Victoria.
• Miss Frankie Seigel, "first-rate blackface comedian of the Bert Williams type" to perform at Pantages Theatre.
• "More Reports of Atrocities" by Germans at length and in gruesome detail.
